UNDER THE ASHES RELEASE NEW SINGLE
UNDER THE ASHES - DEUS VULT
Genre: Thrash/Crust/Doom
Listen Here: Spotify
Under the Ashes are a new band featuring a mix of London local-legend musicians. Their sound is a delightfully dirty mix of Metallic Crust, with Death and Thrash influences. It’s rough, raw and filthy but has enough melody and full-throttled enthusiasm to give it plenty of crossover appeal. The two songs on ‘Deus Vault’ are an excellent introductory statement of malicious intent.
“It’s rough, raw and filthy…”
The song ‘Deus Vult’ opens the recording and starts with a glorious riff which could equally be off a Bolt Thrower or Stormcrow release. It’s infectious and grubby, monstrous and groovy. Then the song rips up the pace and the near-Death Metal punked up vocals spit forth their fury. The initial riff returns into the instrumental bridge, replete with excellently executed solos which effectively take the song to its ferocious conclusion. This fantastic start is followed up by ‘Flash of Light’. This track eschews the melody for full-pelt brutality, which continues to marry the Discharge-adjacent influences with Thrashy proto-Death sounds. Once again, the solos flare up in spectacular fashion and the whole thing sounds gloriously violent.
The two tracks here truly whet the whistle and promises a powerful beginning to an excitingly filthy and ferocious new band. Check it out.
